Gypsy Theatre opens on Queen Street presents

 The Seneca Queen Street Theatre

Place your bets on culture, right here on Queen Street.

 For Immediate Release

May 14, 2009, Niagara Falls:  Culture, character and chic is back in Niagara Falls on Queen Street. Gypsy Theatre’s new home in Niagara Falls is the Queen Street Theatre, the former Seneca. Under the guidance of Artistic Directors John and Bernadette Dalingwater local contractors have been working long and hard to bring life back to the restored cinema, built in the early 40's. It now seats 310 in tiered rows with plush mustard leather seating, retro fittings and art deco chandeliers that bring glamour back to this historic landmark. The facility is fully licensed, and the mirrored and tiled lobby is the perfect place to mingle, be seen and relax - before and after the show. Queen Street is now revitalized – come and join the crowd and enjoy professional theatre at its best, gourmet food, world-class art, specialty coffee shops and unique shopping.

Play your high card – you’ll find yourself with a royal flush this summer at Gypsy’s Queen Street Theatre.

Queen Street Theatre’s 2009 Season:

Cats

Music by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber

May 21 to June 13

Drama, dance, music and unforgettable songs - brought to you by the incredible talents of the Gypsy Theatre Academy.

When T.S. Eliot wrote his poems on the psychology and sociology of cats, little did he

know that the whimsical rhymes he created for his godchildren would become the basis for one of the most successful musicals of all time. Brought back by popular demand, CATS is a perfect family favourite to open the newly renovated Queen Street Theatre.

The Musical of Musicals

Music by Eric Rockwell, Lyrics by Joanne Bogart

June 18 to July 12

TWO FOR ONE!

Gypsy Theatre opens the off-Broadway smash hit The Musical of Musicals Thursday June 18 and runs till July 12.

This week only : 2 for 1 special ticket purchase. (ending June 21st)

Don't miss this opportunity to see the show that has charmed three continents.  The Musical of Musicals is side-splittingly funny, irreverent, and clever – the best spoof on the best-loved musicals of all time.

When one musical is not enough, this is exactly the answer!

TICKETS:  905-871-4407, 1-877-990-7529.

Queen Street Seneca Theatre, 4630 Queen Street, Niagara Falls, ON.

When one musical is not enough, this is exactly the answer. A brilliant satire that uses everything you’ve loved and groaned about from every musical you’ve ever seen. The Musical of Musicals is rich with fabulous music, melodrama, outrageous plots, and unforgettable characters - valiant, romantic heroes, beautiful, fallen ingénues, and of course, dark and evil villains.

Queen Street Theatre’s production is a Canadian coup for this 2004 off-Broadway smash hit that has charmed three continents.

Shirley Valentine

By Willy Russell

August 21 to September 12, 2009

Starring Bernadette Feeney.

“I’m going to Greece for the sex; sex for breakfast, sex for dinner, sex for tea and sex for supper.”

And that’s exactly what 42 year-old Mrs. Bradshaw did. Willy Russell’s heartbreakingly human story of a woman at a crossroads in her life will leave you crying with laughter or weeping tears of sympathy. It tells the story of middle-aged housewife’s search for love, romance and the meaning of it all.  Don’t miss this opportunity to see Bernadette Feeney reprise her award-winning role of Shirley Valentine, fresh home from her hugely successful Australian tour.

Nunsense

Music, Book and Lyrics by Dan Goggin

July 16 to August 16th

So how will four surviving nuns raise money to bury their dearly departed sisters, after a bad batch of food poisoning?  Nothing is off limits for this spunky quartet – the Little Sisters of Hoboken tap dance, sing, shake off their habits and prove that this sisterhood is anything but conservative. Since opening off-Broadway in 1985, Nunsense has become an international phenomenon, with over 5,000 productions worldwide. Don’t miss one of the most successful musicals of the last decade.

Narnia

The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe

November 19 – December 20

Based on The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, Narnia is the story of four school children who are plunged into an enchanted world they discover through an old wardrobe, where animals talk and magic is universal. The children join the lion Aslan and become caught up in an epic battle between good and evil. But as they war against the White Witch, they learn valuable lessons in courage, love, and wisdom.

A timeless children’s classic brought to the stage.
